Metal Makes It To #1 In ’83

In November 1983, Quite Riot’s Metal Health became the first heavy metal album to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200, replacing The Police’s Synchronicity. The album went on to sell more than six million copies and is considered a classic among heavy metal fans.

The album featured two top 40 singles. “Cum on Feel the Noize” reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “Metal Health (Bang Your Head)” peaked at number 31.
